Doing what you do best do not require a lot of knowledge, its basically experience. One of our adventures this year is yet another thrilling one. Hitchhiking is our thing for this summer season. Even if we've just planned the whole thing briefly, it does not really matter if we succeeded or not. The only thing I kept in my mind was to keep on moving and never look back.
Fist thing before hitching a ride, secure yourself enough food for the day. We ate our first meal of our adventure in a karenderya somewhere near SM. Then, we moved on with our adventure.
One of my friend offered us a ride going to Toledo City. Toledo City is where we need to buy boat tickets going to San Carlos City of Negros. It was raining when we arrived the city but it didn't stop us from going to San Carlos City.
So we purchased our ticket, rode the boat, and waited for the time to sail.
After an hour or so, we have arrived in our destination, San Carlos City. It was already 8 pm when we reached the place of one of our old friend who lives in San Carlos. He offered us a place to stay, helped us plan for the next day, even offered us food for the night. In exchange, my sister and my cousin helped in cleaning the dishes. Me, well I lived a king's life for a while. Hahaha!
So the next day came and the plan was to head to Sipaway Island. This island is right across the port of San Carlos.
When we arrived at the island, we hired a tricycle to get us to the nearest cheapest white-sand beach resort. Going to the said resort, we saw a lot of things
we even had a gasoline trouble but it was immediately remedied.
In the resort, we saw their normal cottages and some were built like a banca.
We had so much fun during our stay in the resort. After, we asked the driver to take us to the nearest deep well so that we could wash ourselves and change our wardrobes. As we travel going to that place we saw some beautiful places.
The mysterious beauty of Sipaway Island's Balete Tree
And as soon as we were done with our tour in the island, we head back to our friend's place to hopefully stay another night. We were lucky we have a great friend who's willing to share his home with us. It was afternoon when we arrived in his house. We decided to kill some of our time by going to their famous "Center Mall".
see the wide greed fields?
This Center Mall of theirs is a park. Don't get the wrong idea but its not really a mall. They named it Center Mall because it is situated near the Center Mall. There's so much you can do in this part of the City
That's basically what we did to kill our time, play soccer with those youngsters.
After wasting 2 hours or so, we decided to head home. It was almost 5 pm when our friend texted us to go to their Gaisano Mall and meet him there. We were surprised when we saw him, he's already bringin with him a bottle of Antonov. Back in his house, we ate first and then drink the bottle of gin. We even added 3 more bottles of Red Horse beer. Time was so fast that we didn't notice it was already dawn. I, however, managed to get a few hours of sleep. Don't bother asking what's happened to my sister. She's literally having hung-over by the morning. As soon as my sis and my cousin woke up. We hurriedly pack up our things and start with the real hitchhiking adventure.
Here are some of the pics taken during the whole hitchhiking activity:
And again managed to hitch a ride.
For the whole hitchhiking trip, this was all what my sister did, SLEEP! (or maybe resting :D )
As we head for Dumaguete City we saw the place of the epicenter of the earthquake that happened last February.
We didn't really stop hitching a ride because we know there will be an award for those who patiently wait :)) And so it did.
We rested for a while in this resort
Unfortunately for us, our last destination was the town of Jimalalud. It is located between San Carlos City and Dumaguete City. The last driver that we hitched a ride from was a very kind man. He even offered us money for our fare going to Dumaguete, but we did not take the money because we are after for the fun in this adventure.
After sitting and staring blankly for hours, we didn't manage to hitch a ride and since it's already 3pm in the afternoon, we all decided to ride a van going to our destination. We were all weary at that time so we rode the GT Express van that cost us P90 per person and we asked financial help from our cousin's aunt.
After 2 hours of travel from Jimalalud to Dumaguete City, we finally reached our destination! Atlast! We are now back to civilization! Kidding :D We called our parents to send us money for we are offically broke at the timebeing. We stayed at our cousin's aunt's house for a couple of hours, ate our supper and bought tickets back to Cebu.
It was a tough trip for me, considering we don't have enough money if our plan failed. So to all of you who wants to try out hitchhiking, please don't fail to bring some extra money. I just hope that in our next hitchhiking adventure, it will go accordingly as how we planned it.
PS.
Please learn from this :))
